"Home Team" Magazine to Debut in 2006Written About Us, For Us and By Us! As the Lord leads for funding, HSPN is laying the groundwork for publishing a grassroots magazine that is all about homeschool sports. It's time to recognize, share, promote and capture the hard work and accomplishments of our coaches, parents, players, boosters, cheerleaders and alumni. This in turn opens up great doors of opportunities to apply Grammar, Literature, Graphics and Journalism skills. Students can receive credit hours in photo journalism as we are looking for correpsondents from the West, North, East and South regions. |

Simply send an e-mail to Home Team Magazine and describe your interests, skills and geographic area of the country. |
Stories, articles and photos will be submitted to your closest correspondent who will then submit his layout to the HSPN office. Each region's layout becomes its own section of the magazine. | ||||||||||

Excerpt: Handbook for a Successful Homeschool Sport Program Get Started, 'Cause This Works! - Part One I thank GOD for homeschool kids. I have had the best 13 years working with all the age groups from 5 year olds to the high schoolers. It extend beyonds that now, as I have great relationships with our alumni who are college students, newlyweds and even parents! Over these years, we have traveled together, competed in almost 800 events, and prayed, cried, laughed and hugged many times. When you move to a new town, like we did, (and many do)- and you don't know a soul, the last thing you would ever think possible is that you would ever have an impact on a new community. Also new to the homeschool "thing" with young children, I eventually got plugged in, and a year later I was directing my first sports day. |

It is abundantly clear to me that subject of sports and athletics seem to be taboo in the homeschool circles. A quick glance at any of the prominent homeschool publications reveals a dearth of subjects or articles devoted to homeschool sports as if there couldn't possibly be anything positive to come out of it. Sadly, they are missing out on one of the greatest positive statements being made by those who participate in homeschool sports. Since when is portraying Christian character and showcasing great testimony below the standards of "real" homeschooling?. This coach believes it should be embraced. My story is also your guide to an effective, fulfilling life working with homeschool athletes. You can do this! |
