Kentucky - Louisville Louisville Homeschool Honey Badgers:LOUISVILLE HOMESCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY 2018 It is time to start thinking about the fall 2018 Louisville Homeschool cross country season. For the uninitiated, cross country is a foot race, generally between 1 and 2 miles, run over fields, hills, and paths. Last year was a great success. We had about 40 kids on the team and raced in about 9 races. We try to coach your kid to the level he or she wants to be coached. If your kid is really competitive and cross country is his or her passion, we can coach to that. If your kid will put on a pair of running shoes on the first day of practice and never run outside of practice, we can coach to that, too. Here is what you need to know: Who: Any students in the 1st through 8th grades, or the age equivalent. What: Cross country is a running race. Athletes in the 1st – 3rd grades typically race between 1 mile and 1.25 miles. Athletes between 4th -8th grades typically race 2 miles, though on occasion will race closer to 2.5 miles. When and Where: • Practices start Tuesday, July 17. We practice Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Iroquois Park off of Southern Parkway and New Cut Road. We meet at the picnic shelter off of New Cut Road. It is between the playground and the amphitheater. The season will end in mid-October. • Meets are on Saturdays, starting in mid-September and going to mid-October. We’ll run 8-10 meets. Last year, most of the meets were in Louisville, with the rest in Shelbyville, Oldham County, New Albany, Indiana, or Frankfort, Ky.
