===== 2019 =====

by Ken Rank, Bluegrass United Baseball (Lexington, KY) has completed its inaugural season. After a slow start, "BU" finished the season at 12-12. There were many great moments, both individually and as a team. The highlight was two wins against long established public school programs. There is a great deal of excitement going forward as all of BU's players were underclassmen and will be returning next season. They are hoping to make some noise against both public and private school teams. #BUnited

Coastal Hurricanes BREAKING NEWS..we have a new HIT KING for Hurricanes baseball. With a 2 for 4 night on Tuesday senior Brett Collins now has 117 base knocks in his varsity career. That's one more than his brother, Daniel Collins (who is now pitching at Georgia Southern). Brett also picked up the win on the mound and is now tied for 2nd all-time with Ryan Rockwell (now pitching at Montreat College) with 13 W's. Next up....his older brother Daniel with 16. Congrats on a great career Brett! #ECBuzz

Those of us at the Indianapolis Kings Baseball can't say enough about Virgil Aldridge at Lawrence Park Youth Sports. He gives of himself to the Lawrence community to make sure kids have sports programs like football and baseball. He has been gracious enough to let us use the baseball fields for practices and Jr. High games. We are thankful for him and people like him and wanted to give back to him and the Lawrence program. On March 9th, approximately 25 families from the Kings High School and Jr. High teams gave their time on Saturday morning to help with the field clean up. As a program we are blessed by the Lord in so many ways. From Mr. Aldrige to our players to our families that serve in their faith, we are thankful.

Coastal Homeschool Hurricanes What an amazing season for the Hurricanes this year. This group of great young men, set a program record with 20 wins (20-5). We ran into a very good Columbia team last night and came out on the short end of a 4-0 game that was called early due to two light banks being out from a lightning strike Thursday. Several of our guys made the All-conference team...details to come later today about that! The game marked the end of a four year ride for senior Ryan OSako, Noah Licavoli (6 yrs) and Spenser Stewart (2). Senior Lexi Rockwell gets some props too for taking amazing pictures and documenting great memories for all of us. Thank you to all the parents who helped with everything this season as well. Indianapolis Kings Meet Governor Mike Pence

posted June 5 The Kings had the honor of meeting with Governor Mike Pence earlier this week where they gave him a jersey as an honorary King for the day. He shared with the team some of his personal stories as well as sharing his favorite verse and why it is important to him (Genesis 18:19). The boys counted it a privilege to get a chance to pray together with him before leaving. Great way to cap off the season.

Indianapolis Kings Baseball - (from FB post) The 2015 Kings Varsity Team finished the season this past weekend with a record of 27-12. This is the most wins in Kings history. The team won the Shine.FM Grand Park Tournament and was 2nd in the Midwest Homeschool World Series. They were led by senior co-captains John Evans (King of the Mound Award) and Abe Hogan (MVP), senior Micah Pullins (Batting King), and junior Nick Kult (Mark Judy Character Award). Great season boys representing homeschool sports and Christ well.

Last Start on the Mound
Scheldon Paulk's last start on the mound as a Hurricane

(posted May 4) Tonight at Pinewood Christian will be Scheldon Paulk's last start on the mound as a Hurricane. He's one of two remaining (Tate Robinson) original members of the varsity baseball team we started five years ago. The coaches were taller than he was when we started....we can't say that anymore! #5 will pitch in his 41st game tonight (that's a Cane varsity record). He'll tie the record for most starts (24- with Daniel Collins '14), He owns the strikeout record with 193 and counting. He can hit too, with a career average of .345, 77 runs scored, and 79 hits (all rank 3rd all-time). It has been a pleasure watching him mature and become the man of God he is today. more on the 'Canes...

Ministry Between The Lines

(posted Apr 21) On Saturday, God showed us life-on-life ministry beyond the game. The Kings played Gary Roosevelt in a double header. In the first game, it was evident the Gary team struggled to play at a higher level. As we talked to the coaches during the game, they said several of the kids play baseball to stay off the streets.

Between games, we had lunch on the infield with both teams together to reach out. Players were talking and connecting as teenage boys... laughing, sharing pictures of prom dates, talking about dread locks, etc. As we were getting ready to play the second game, we decided to ask the coaches if we could mix up the teams so Kings and Roosevelt players were together on the same team playing each other. They said sure.

The individual team records didn't matter. What we saw in the second game were guys giving each other high fives, players laughing together in the dugout and on the field, and words of encouragement as guys were "teammates" together. The game ended in the last inning with a team scoring the go ahead run and a dog pile occurring at home plate to celebrate. It was great to see, in the heart of Gary, boys from different backgrounds building relationships through a sport.

May God use this experience to help players realize our greater calling as a team.
