Big thank you to all the coaches and players that helped “revitalize” the Bray Park Football field. Many hands made light work, but a special thanks to Christopher Gay and James Duke who put in a tremendous amount of hours before and after this day to ensure we have a much improved playing surface for the 2020 season.

TEXAS HOMESCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM IN NATIONAL COMPETITION FOR BEST HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL HELMET While everyone is still deciding on which is best, staying indoors or venturing out, a different debate is raging online. This is not a debate for the faint of heart. The right to be crowned the Best High School Football Helmet in the Greatest Football State in the Country, Texas, is on the line first. Then, the honor, to defend the Great State of Texas by bringing the Title of Best National High School Football Helmet would be next. Only the biggest and baddest would dare enter or be selected for this competition.

Just like any great sports story, we always find out about that one underdog team. That one team who defies all the critiques and disbelievers. The team who seems to somehow keep beating all expectations and amaze everyone like some type of cosmic luck. Well this competition would be no different. Let me introduce you to the Atlas Ratters!

The Atlas Rattlers are a homeschool 11 man football program based out of Fort Worth, TX. Their mission is to give all kids the chance to play this great game we love, regardless of their educational choice. In order to get the word out about the new program for their inaugural season in 2019, they knew they would have to come up with the Best Logo and Helmet anywhere. With the help of Riddell, they would get the best helmets out there. Then they went and created the best logo, a Texas Rattlesnake! Well, now they want to prove it going into Season 2 by representing the Greatest Football State in the Country, TEXAS!!! They know, if they win Texas, they will win the National Tournament!

So in this uncertain time, maybe we can all pull together and rally behind this underdog. After all, every one of us could relate to wanting to beat the odds, exceed expectations and overcome the situation. We all have a little Texas Rattlesnake left in us! Vote: @AtlasDfw Vote: ATLAS

Southwest Louisiana Homeschool Knights defeated the Acadiana Christian Academy Lions 32-0 and secured a return visit to the ACEL state finals. Philip Hannon completed 7 of 10 passes for 172 yards and 3 TD’s while Senior RB Jacobi McClelland racked up 193 yards on only 8 carries with two more scores. The Knights defense posted their first shutout of the season. Led by Cole Strittmatter and the “Gorilla Gang”, the Knights D posted 6 sacks and 11 tackles for loss, keeping the Lion’s punishing ground game in check. SWLA will play the Berchman Saints in a state title rematch at Teurlings Stadium in Lafayette, LA on Saturday, October 26. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.

Scoring for the Knights started quickly, winning the toss and scoring on their first possession. A 6-yard slant was hauled in by McClelland for the first score, putting the Knights up 6-0. The Lion’s first possession was ended quickly by Senior defensive end Caleb Mustian, posting two tackles for loss and forcing a turnover on downs. The Knights turned the defensive stop into points when Hannon hit All-State wide receiver Sam Dotson for the 69-yard touchdown, putting the Knights up 12-0. The Lion’s last possession of the first quarter also ended in a turnover on downs as Strittmatter, Mustian, and Senior linebacker Andrew Loewer continued to menace the Lion backfield.

The second quarter began with the Knights driving again, but ended when Elijah Pickle coughed up the ball near the Lion 30-yard line. Pickle quickly made up for the turnover by making a tackle for loss and a sack on the ensuing Lion possession and forced a punt. Another successful Knight drive was capped off by Hannon finding Dotson again for the 23-yard score, extending the lead to 18-0. The Knights got the ball right back when Senior Josiah Keith recovered his own kick. A couple plays later, McClelland found pay dirt after a strong stiff-arm and sprint from 39 yards out and rushed for the 2-pt conversion, giving the Knights a 26-0 edge. The Gorilla Gang stopped the next Lion possession, forcing another turnover on downs. Points kept coming when McClelland took a hand off and found a wide-open hole opened by the Keith brothers, Daniel and Josiah, running for the 57-yard TD. This gave the Knights a commanding 32-0 lead going into halftime.

Second half action was short with mercy rule in effect and a running clock. The Lions continued to be stymied by the Knights defense and unable to mount a threatening scoring drive. After a turnover on downs, the Knights pounded out a drive into the RedZone when the game ended, setting up the rematch with Berchman next week. When asked what was different about this game after having lost both regular season games to ACA by 30+ points, Coach Morgan Hines simply said, "We contained a lot better this game". He also stated that the offensive line performance has greatly improved and hopes to bring this momentum into Teurlings stadium next week.Write Your Football Story Here...

Lighthouse Christian Chargers are now 7-0 on the season. Quote of the night last night. As the victorious Chargers lined up in Victory formation, somewhere from the other side of the ball was heard “Guys... We just took our first loss this season from a homeschool team”.

Grand Valley Christian Patriots After losing to Calumet Christian, the Patriots came up big with a 40-20 win over Noblesville Lions on 9/28.The offense started out slow but the defense did its job. After another stop by the defense, quarterback Luke Baker got it going with a long bomb to wide receiver Nathan Preston. Luke Baker now has over 1,000 yards on the season and 11 touchdowns. He's also leading the team in rushing with 163 yds. After last week's game, he was named National Homeschool Player Of The Week. His No. 1 target this year has been wide receiver Brennan Hines. He had another good game, he now has 22 Rec for 376 yards. Wide receiver Robert Green is leading the team in with 5 touchdowns. The leader of the defense has been linebacker Bryce Girschle. He's leading the team in tackles (62), TFL (15), and sacks (6). Their final two games are against rival Downriver Wolfpack on 10/12 and Tri-State Crusaders on 10/19.

Grand Valley Christian Patriots Brian Shafer said his team needed to stay disciplined after an 0-2 start, and that’s what he got in a 26-16 victory. To start the game WR Rishaun Green got a big kickoff return touchdown. The defense looked good. The first score of the game for the game Tri-State Crusaders came from their defense when QB Luke Baker threw a pick six. He later then made up for it by connecting with WR Robert Green on a short pass which ended up on a touchdown,he said "I'm the fastest on the team." He's been showing it on that kickoff return touchdown last game against Calumet Christian, and he showed it again on that big run after catch.

One of the players that stood out on defense was LB Bryce Girschle. It seems like he's making almost every tackle. One of the best plays of the game was when QB Luke Baker threw an inaccurate throw and it hit the defender and ended up in WR Brennan Hines's hands. It seemed like he was making catch after catch. The kickoff return TD wasn't enough for Rishaun Green, he caught a bomb from QB Luke Baker and then juked his way into the endzone. The Crusaders couldn't get anything going, it seemed like everyone was getting in on the run game. The defense was able to get the offense on the field a lot. Luke did throw a couple more interceptions, but when he was moving the offense down the field, it was usually because he was able to get it in WR Brennan Hines's hands. At the end they were getting tired, but they still only allowed 16 points. The Patriots ended up winning the game 26-16. I hope to see them win their next game against Calumet Christian.

Grand Valley Christian Patriots The first game of the year for the Grand Valley Christian Patriots led by Coach Brian Shafer ended up in a 33-14 loss to Crossroads Christian. The run defense looked good but the offense couldn't get much going. When they would get some good plays the Crusaders would take it right back. The Patriots turned it over too much which gave the Crusaders great field position. The secondary looked great though, coming up with interceptions. The problem with that was the Patriots threw even more interceptions which forced the defense to make plays.

The next game however started strong.QB Luke Baker looked good. The offensive line provided little protection for him but he was able to escape and make plays with his legs.He was putting up touchdowns and the defense made stops, letting him get back out there. After a while though they got pretty predictable because there was no run game.Which allowed constant pressure on the QB.Thankfully the defense wasn't allowing much. After Calumet Christian scored a couple touchdowns, DB Robert Green got the crowd going with a kickoff return touchdown.Calumet Christian wasn't giving up though as they tied it up and eventually ended up winning the game 26-33.

I hope to see them get their first win against the Tri-State Crusaders when they play in Indiana this weekend.
