Stealing a line from a college basketball announcer, but it was a great day to be a member of Valley Thunder Homeschool Sports wherever you may be! The inaugural pre-season tip-off tournament is in the books and 30 teams met at the W. Randy Smith Center and competed all day. Boys and girls at the middle school and high school levels got started at 8:00am and games continued for over 12 hours. Hundreds of homeschool kids and their families enjoyed a day together. We crowned 5 champions!

Middle school girls - Fredericksburg Victory
Middle school boys - Frederick Warriors
Junior varsity boys - Fredericksburg Victory
Varsity girls - Central Virginia Patriots
Varsity boys - Marion Hawks

Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Ohio were all represented. Right now, here and Atlanta and St. Louis are the only places that have a season opening event like this for the homeschool teams. Next year should be even bigger! Other teams are already interested in joining in and we may have more courts and maybe a second day of games.

But this season isn't over yet! Valley Thunder will be hosting more games throughout the season, so come check us out.
