NCHAA (Posted July 15, 2002)

The NCHAA (National Christian Homeschool Athletic Association) is looking for teams interested in attending a national soccer tournament in Denver, CO either the last week of October or the first week in November.

The NCHAA just finished its first National Track Meet in Wichita, KS. Over 100 participants were on hand. Teams from Wichita, Chicago, and Kansas City were represented with many other individual entries from as far away as Tennessee and Oklahoma. Next year's meet is scheduled for May 17, 2003 and will either be in Wichita or Kansas City. We expect to double in size based on the response from other teams that indicated they will be here next year. If there is enough teams we will go to Friday preliminaries and Saturday finals.

Information on the 6th Annual NCHAA National Basketball Tournament will be out in July. Dates are March 12-15, 2003. There will be some small changes with the addition of a 12 and under group and expansion of the Junior Varsity level. The tournament will again start with an opening ceremony and evening of praise as we did last year. For more information contact Kenny Collins, Executive Director at (316) 267-1484 or e-mail at nchaa2@Juno.com.

Homeschool Basketball National Web-site (Posted July 15, 2002)

The recent ruling by the federal court, striking down the phrase "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance, only serves to remind me just how important is the opportunity for Christian young people to homeschool. What a striking difference we can make in these young Christian homeschoolers' lives, by providing a strong Christian homeschool sports network! Instead of developing in an atmosphere antagonistic to our cherished faith, these young people can have the opportunity to not only develop their athletic skills, but their Christian character as well. It has been said of churches that 80% of the work is done by 20% of the people. I suspect the same is true in homeschool sports. I suppose we could whine and say "If everyone does not do their fair share, why do anything at all?" I doubt everything will ever be equally portioned out. But, if you believe in shaping these young people's lives in a Godly manner, then it is worth the best of your efforts, regardless if others do not do their share. God will bless you in due time. I believe if we are willing to work together for the greater goal of spiritual development in the lives of homeschool youth, we will see a harvest of spiritual good in time. God's principles of sowing and reaping certainly apply here. If you have information about your team, updates, photos, or corrections you would like me to make or add in the national websites, please just let me know. If you can help by providing the latest team contacts for your state, that would be a blessing. I still get e-mails from homeschoolers in various parts of the nation, who have found one of the national websites, and would like to find a team near them, or else would like to start a team. So, your help is important!

Sincerely,
Tom Scheimo, webmaster
