The Rockville SportsPlex Offers Fall Homeschool Sports Program Posted: 07/30/2002
The Rockville SportsPlex will continue to create a fun-loving sports program this fall to meet the desires of the home-schooling community. This program is designed to develop children's and teenager's mental, physical, and social abilities and to help them learn individual skills, teamwork, and most importantly to have fun! Sports include soccer, basketball, kickball, etc. The next 6-week session will begin the first week in September with classes scheduled one day per week for one hour.

For further information and registration, please feel free to contact Jeff Maurer@comcast.net or call 301-924-9207 or office (301-838-4455).

Sports Situation Still in Disarray Posted: 07/15/2002
Every week it seems I receive at least one e-mail from a Maryland family in search of some sports related activity for their area. To date, my answer remains that I know of only the MACHE sports program in the Baltimore area.

Plan of Action The first step to correcting this problem will rest on the shoulders of Maryland families. You should write a short blurb for your local support group newsletter seeking other interested families. You may be surprised how many other families have the same desires. Eventually someone will have to "step-up" and become the de-facto sports director.

Next, I strongly encourage any support group to hold a special sports-related meeting. I will gladly donate my time and talk on how HSPN can work in Maryland. Beginning with the next issue of e-News, I will re-publish my series on "How to Start a Sports Program".
